We brought chess into everyday life

We brought chess into everyday life

Chess Magazine, which we produced for the Turkish Chess Federation, was conceived as a publishing project that approached chess not only as a sport or a game, but as a way of thinking connected to education, health, personal development, culture and everyday life.

With the “Chess in Everyday Life” approach, we explored tournaments, players and chess history alongside the skills associated with chess—analysis, decision-making, goal-setting and strategic thinking—and connected them with different areas of life.

The magazine combined the current chess agenda with feature stories, interviews, tournament coverage, chess analysis and content from different disciplines.

Our Role

Publication Concept and Editorial Direction: Developing the magazine’s editorial approach, section structure and publishing language.
Publication Management: Coordinating content, contributors, interviews and production processes.
Design and Production: Developing the magazine’s visual identity and page design system, and managing its preparation for publication.

From concept to publication

Across three issues, we maintained an editorial approach that presented chess not only through competition and tournaments, but through its broader connections with people and everyday life.

Alongside players and tournaments, stories from education, culture, health, personal development and other areas of life were used to introduce chess to a wider readership.

We took chess beyond the board, developing a magazine language that connected it with life, culture and a broader range of interests.
