Introduction to Anatolia Erzurum is a comprehensive city book that emerged from a long-term publishing project.
The project began with a series of dedicated brochures exploring different aspects of Erzurum’s cultural and tourism heritage. Developed through research, editorial writing and original photography, the series gradually expanded and, in 2012, brought together 20 different subjects in a comprehensive publication about the city.
From a brochure series to a comprehensive book on Erzurum
The project began with a series of brochures addressing Erzurum’s cultural, historical and tourism assets under separate themes: The Bastions of Erzurum; Bars; Cirit; Flora and Fauna; Natural Attractions; Castles; Mosques and Madrasas; Winter and Outdoor Sports; Handicrafts; Health Tourism; Houses and Cuisine; Inns, Baths and Bazaars; Fountains, Waterways and Bridges; Tombs and Kümbets; Churches and Höyüks; History of Erzurum; Geography; The Minstrel Tradition; Tales and Legends; and Erzurum: Stage of Civilizations, introducing the Erzurum Archaeology Museum.
Over time, these 20 individual publications were reconsidered within a shared editorial framework. Based on the idea that Erzurum embodies many of Anatolia’s historical, cultural, natural and everyday values, the accumulated material was transformed into the comprehensive city book Introduction to Anatolia Erzurum.
Edited and produced by Tablet İletişim, the book was published in Turkish, English, Russian and French, presenting Erzurum’s cultural and tourism heritage to wider audiences through a cohesive narrative.
